How making the resin coffee tables with Epoxy , wood, pigments

The cost of epoxy table is much higher compared to normal tables because these tables have amazing designs and roles and normal tables lack such features.

Epoxy tables are created by combining wood and resin.  The resin used in the design and construction of modern tables is epoxy resin.

Epoxy resin is a family of two-component resins, which has two materials called resin base and hardener, and these two parts must be mixed with each other in a specific ratio.

Specifications and properties of epoxy resin

  • Excellent resistance to acids and high mechanical resistance
  • Very high adhesion to various modern table surfaces
  • Epoxy resin is non-conductive and grease and dirt are easily removed from it
  • Epoxy resin table construction steps
  • Choice of wood

The cost of the epoxy table depends on the choice of wood.  If the selected wood is of high quality, it will increase the cost of the epoxy table.

The selected wood must be of good quality.  Walnut, juniper, mulberry and maple wood are good options for making epoxy tables.

Choosing wood epoxy resin

The epoxy resin should have a good concentration, so that it is not too hard and it should flow like a liquid in the shape of the desired mold.

Bubbles should not be created inside because it reduces its strength.  The wood resin table must be clear and colorless and have high mechanical resistance to make large modern tables.

Also, pay attention that it is not halal, so that it has the lowest ignition rate.

If a bad smell spreads from the resin, it means that there is an impurity in the resin material, and its material is halal.

 Wood preparation

Any decay and holes must be removed from the wood.  This can be done with the help of putty.  After plastering, the surface of the wood should be sanded to remove the ridges and make the surface of the wood completely smooth and uniform.

Putting the wood in the mold

At this stage, the sticks should be placed inside the mold.  Placing the sticks inside the mold is completely tasteful.

If you don't have any idea or plan in mind, get help from the internet.

Mix resin and hardener and apply the first layer

In this step, we must combine resin and hardener together.

It is important to note that every time you want to mix resin and hardener, their total weight should not exceed one kilo, that is, mix a maximum of one kilo of resin and hardener each time and pour it into the mold.

Modern table After combining resin and hardener, the first layer can be applied.  If the surface of your mold and resin table is large, you can pour resin up to a height of 5 mm.

 Apply subsequent layers

After pouring the first layer, you should wait for 24 hours and then proceed to pour the second layer.

Note that in some resins, you can apply the second and subsequent layers after the resin has gelled, and you do not need to wait for the first layer to dry completely, but we suggest not to rush and allow 24 hours.

Time passes and the resin dries completely.

Add the second layer and the following layers to the template like the first layer.

After adding the last layer, wait 24 hours for it to dry completely.  After the epoxy resin dries, you can separate the mold and perform the sub and polishing steps.

The thickness of the resin table and the type of wood used are among the things that must be considered in the design and construction of the resin table because they directly affect the quality of the table.

In the following article, we are going to describe the steps of designing a resin table:

  •  Choosing high quality wood

Modern and resin table, first of all, a high-quality wood should be prepared.

Note that the beauty of the table depends on the choice of wood.

If you choose a beautiful wood, you are half way there.

Walnut, elder, maple and mulberry wood are among the items that are of high quality and are perfect for making resin tables.

  •  Checking the moisture content of wood

The wood prepared for making a resin table should not contain moisture in any way.

Moisture has a very negative effect on epoxy resin, that's why when you want to buy wood, you should ask the seller to give you a completely dry wood.

The rustic table of newly cut wood has moisture and is not considered a suitable option for your work.  It is better to use older wood.

  • The thickness of the wood single resin table

The thickness of the resin table depends on the thickness of the wood you choose.

The cost of the epoxy table. To make an epoxy resin table, the thickness of the wood should not be less than 6 cm.

If the thickness of the wood is less than this size, it may bend and bend when mixing the resin load.  The thicker the wood, the stronger your table will be.

  • Preparing the wood for making the resin table

After you buy a high-quality wood without moisture, you must take the necessary steps to prepare it.

For this purpose, you should check the surface of the wood carefully and if there are holes, cover it with putty for wood, modern table, and then sand it until the work surface is completely smooth and uniform.

In addition, if the wood is dirty and there is grease and pollution on its surface, it should be cleaned.

  •  Putting the wood in the mold

After the sticks are ready, you should put them inside the mold.

Placing the sticks inside the mold is completely dependent on your taste.

If you don't have a specific idea, you can use the photos on the internet and get ideas from them.

  •  Combination of resin and hardener

At this stage, it is time to combine resin and hardener.

If you want to color the epoxy resin, you can use special epoxy powder colors or ink colors that give a very beautiful effect to the resin.

Pay attention that every time you want to mix resin and hardener together, their total weight should not exceed one kilo.

If the surface of your mold and resin table is large, you can pour resin up to a height of 5 mm and there will be no problem.

  •  Apply the second layer to the table template

After applying the first layer, you must wait for 24 hours for it to dry completely.

After the first layer dries, you can apply the second layer, but before pouring the second layer, if there is any dust on the first surface, clean it so as not to reduce the transparency of the work.

Note that in some resins, you can add the second and subsequent layers after the resin has gelled, and you don't need to wait for the first layer to dry completely.

  •  Apply the next layers to the table template

After applying the second layer, apply the next layers as the previous layer.  After pouring the last open layer, wait for 24 hours for it to dry completely.

After the epoxy resin dries, you can separate the mold and start sanding and polishing.
